Hooded Medicine Spoon This late 19th century medicine spoon was made in sterling silver by the Wallace Mfg Company in their 1898 Rose pattern. The spoon is approximately 6 long. The design of the hood and the bowl of the spoon makes it possible to measure out a dose of medicine in the hooded portion while the spoon is held vertically and then can be dispensed into the mouth. The hood serves a second purpose in that it reduces the aroma/odor of the medicine while being administered. There is no monogram or other engraving. The spoon is in excellent as found condition and would benefit from some hand polishing.
