5-3/4 Very Rare Antique Catalina Island Calif Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon
This is a very rare large antique sterling silver souvenir spoon from Catalina Island, a resort location off the coast of Southern California, near San Diego and Los Angeles, California. It is from about 1905 or so. We realize we are asking a large amount for this, but it is truly unusual. The handle two sided, with a figural male Native American Indian on one side, and a Native American Woman on the other, holding a baby. In addition to the rare handle, the bowl is embossed with a view from the northwest, near where the bell tower is now. Almost all of the other spoons show views from the opposite side of the Avalon Bay. This shows an early scene of Avalon Bay and Avalon Santa Catalina Isl. It is heavy for its size and well-made. Maker’s marks: Sterling NS Co. Weight: It weighs a hefty 24.4 grams. Condition: Very good, no problems. Any white, dark or other off-color spots are camera flash or reflection. Please bear in mind that color can vary from monitor to monitor. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
