RARE! Norway WWII Liberation 1945 Sterling 830 Silver 7.7 Souvenir Spoon 104g
Very Large Souvenir Serving Spoon. Marked 830 (83% Silver) with Marthinsen hallmark (Sterling is 925 or 92.5% Silver). Handle has athletic man holding up a round shield, with the Norwegian crown and a 4 leaf Clover. Bowl has a “broken chain” and is engraved “Norge 1945″. Around the edge of the bowl is BRUTT BLEV LENKER BAND OG TVANG”, which translates to “Broken were chains, ties and constraints, a line taken from Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. Very large – measures 7.7″ long; Bowl has about 2.7″ diameter. Very heavy – weighs 104 grams. This spoon was produced in two different sizes, this is the larger (and rarer) version – the small one is about 4.7 inches long. Nice Estate condition (see photos).
