Fantastic piece of history. Sterling silver souvenir spoon of Alder Gulch out of Virginia City, Montana, The bowl depicts a man being hung without trial with the word “Vigilantes” to the left. Gold was discovered in Alder Gulch in 1863 and law enforcement in that territory was very poor so the group “Montana Vigilantes” formed and any robberies committed by an individual were captured and hanged by the organization.
