Antique Sterling Silver Niello Russian Spoon 1889 with a Twisted Stem shaped like a Scepter. In the makers box I can only make out an A. In the assayers box there is what looks like a JL. In the town box it looks like a man on a horse which I believe is Moscow. The black Niello is on the back of the bowl and at the end around the scepter. It has a nice twisted stem and measures about 4.75 in length. The black etching is in very good shape. The spoon looks unused except that the gold wash has faded in the bowl. This is from a large collection of sterling and coin from the 1800’s. Many were gifts and are unused. The family had a former US Senator and Ambassador to Korea.
