This is a really nice antique 800/1000 Continental grade silver, as opposed to 925/1000 sterling silver, souvenir spoon from Naples, Italy. It is fully goldwashed and is an unusually large size for an Italian souvenir spoon, about 5-5/8 long. The striking part is the fully figural enamel urn on the finial. It has a very good image of Naples and Bay of Naples, with a steaming volcano Vesuvius in the background. Vesuvius is the volcano that erupted and destroyed the nearby city of Pompeii. The bowl says “Napoli”. The back is marked with “800” beneath the urn on the back. It weighs about 16.6 grams. Any white, dark or other off-color spots are camera flash or reflection. Please bear in mind that color can vary from monitor to monitor. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
